The year for YOU!

The year for YOU!

The Year for You!

This is the Year for you! It’s your time to get healthier mentally. I am not a fan of resolutions because of the hype. But I am a fan of assessing my life and seeing where I am and how to get where I want to go.

With that said, there is one thing that always gets in the way of where I want to go. And that’s ME! I get in the way of myself daily. The conversations in my head about myself are not kind, or true! Yet I have them on a daily basis.

I have a lot of experience with this, conversations such as, Ah I suck as a mom! I can’t seem to get my shit together! I’m not good enough to start a blog or that or that I am not fit enough to teach on video.

The fact is, I am not really a shity mom, I actually get a ton done in the day, (it’s just not always items that feel check worthy able) anyone can start a blog, and nobody is perfect!  So after years of holding back, I have decided, screw this! I really don’t care what people think anymore. And I am asking you to do the same thing!

I know you have some pretty amazing, crazy awesome goals you want to crush, but first, take care of yourself by doing this one thing. IMPLEMENT THE GOLDEN RULE into your life ASAP!

The Golden Rule…

In case you are not familiar, here is a refresher. ” Do unto others as you would want to be done unto you!” Ok, let’s apply this to you. Do unto yourself as you would do unto others! Hmmm, think about it. Would you tell your best friend she has a saggy butt or bags under her eyes, or never gets anything right? I don’t think so! So why do we tell ourselves this?

We are so hard on ourselves that we, in fact, are not taking care of us and we are making ourselves SICK, DEPRESSED, and UNDERAPPRECIATED. Even worse, we are making ourselves unhealthy!

We are sabotaging our emotions and killing our joy, speaking lies and losing our internal value. Which in fact starts a snowball effect that not only others see, but subconsciously take in. And sadly, ultimately we are adding additional cortisol (that is not necessary) to our belly fat!.

So some of you me be thinking, she is talking about LOVING YOURSELF more, and I really hope that is not the case because my goal is for all of us to TAKING CARE OF YOURSELF more. Here are some strategies that I know work.

4 Ways to Take Care of Yourself

Applying the golden rule- Until this becomes a habit, turn every situation around and ask yourself ” would I do this too (        ) fill in the blank”?

Adding some kind of movement to your day for 20 mins- It’s been proven that movement can change your perspective not to mention it makes you feel productive.

Catch yourself when you say something negative and quickly find the positive- this takes practice but eventually, it becomes a habit and you will find yourself seeing the positive more often than the negative.

Give yourself some grace- Forgiveness is key to happiness, so for goodness sake, give yourself a break and forgive your mistakes!

Work on these simple tricks and you will be on your way to crushing your goals quicker, depleting stress and cortisol levels, and simply on your way to enjoying your healthier life.

Remember, negative self-sabotaging acts get you nowhere but more undervalued and my dear, you are so valued!

Stay strong my lovelies,

Stephanie

The Balancing Act

The Balancing Act

The Balancing Act!

Do you ever struggle with life balance? One minute your relationship is going well but your finances suck. Do you look around at your friends and co-workers and think “what the heck, they have it all together what’s wrong with me? ”

I know the answer is yes because you are human, we all do it!

The real question is how do we deal with it?

I often would find myself trapped in the comparison game and now I simply just enjoy my life. It’s a concuss decision I made! I believe to truly enjoy your life we need simple strategies that you can apply even while dealing with kids, work, dishes, laundry, bills, and the list goes on…

I have spent years as a Pilates instructor helping women clear the clutter in their lives so that they can finally lose weight. In the early years, I realized being a Pilates instructor was so much more than helping people find a great workout. I was changing people lives from the inside out.

Delete Mental Distraction…

I used to think the mind-body connection was just meditation mojo. But soon realized it wasn’t a meditation at all. It was a step to learning how to love and forgive yourself. How to truly be in the moment, really experience movement without pain. Through this experience, I plan to help you clear your own clutter.

We will dive deep to bring out your inner strength so you can live your best life!

All Movement Heals

All Movement Heals

All Movement Heals!

I strongly believe just movement can keep you sane. When I first had my son I got trapped in this idea that I needed to take a class or go to the gym to have any progress with my “body goals”. I put so much pressure on getting my body back, that I actually shut down and became depressed. More on that another time. After a year of “trying” I realized the challenging setbacks many mom’s face.

Your time is no longer yours!

An hour class at the gym is now two hours and possibly more… getting them ready, packing them into the car, fighting with “stiff child” and playing “tickle tactics” to get in the seat…” Oh crap, forgot the diaper bag” or “shit is it snack time?” Then once you get to the gym, check them in, walk away while tears and screams eat your heart out all so you can have a “healthy break for yourself”

I remember having anxiety wondering “ when are they coming to get me?” It was so stressful I just stopped going altogether.

If you are reading this in agreement, I am here to tell you movement doesn’t have to be this stressful. In fact, I will go as far as saying, you are wasting your time if you are this stressed while at the gym!

So here is my solution,

This is your free pass to give yourself a break. I am not saying don’t workout. That is the worst advice. I believe the act of getting your heart rate up and moving for at least 15 mins will change your whole day!

So, Here is what I did

I choose my favorite workouts. In my case, it was a Dance, Pilates, Yoga, and PIYO. I picked 3 instructors that I love and followed only them. There is so much fitness inspiration out there it can be overwhelming and take you off the ultimate goal. So pick someone you like!

At first, I only did 10 to 15 mins of their workout each day but my goal was to get a habit of working out at home down so I wouldn’t skip. The majority of my workouts were done with Pilates Anytime.

I logged into Pilates Anytime ( an online community of Pilates workouts.) and I started and stopped when I needed to change a diaper, fix an owie, or whatever the day brought. The great thing about this is it’s cheap, ($18 mo) easy and always provides different workouts. I could take a barre class or mat class or fusion. I highly recommend it.

If you don’t want to spend money YouTube is great too. But I caution you. There are so many people teaching fitness out there that have no training and could possibly lead you to injury unintentionally. So, look for people who are trained and certified if you choose the Pilates route.

Find something for your child to do! Or work out at nap time. I did not like working out at nap. I felt if I breathed too hard he would wake up! No thanks!

Pick a time that works for you and make it part of your routine. This is so important, once you pass the annoying stage of “mommy what are you doing” “why are you doing that” the questions are endless when you first start. It becomes a habit for them as well.

As we all know kids don’t like change so make sure to continue with your routine or you will have to deal with this stage over and over.

I know this doesn’t seem ideal but you need to be stronger now than ever before to make it work, take care of yourself.

If nothing else, Just move. Go for a walk or run. Hold plank next to them while they are playing with toys. Continue moving mama you got this. As they say, this phase will pass and you will be back in the gym in no time.

Build yourself up so others don’t have to! Cheers

Hello world!

On this blog you will find simple ways to create the life you truly enjoy.  I am a real person with real struggles  and have found ways to sit back and enjoy my life and be in the present.

I believe we must be in the right mind set to create the life we want. What I mean by that is, we have to create a confidence that allows us to let go and be our true selves. Here I write about tips on how to do just that.

As a Pilates professional I have found successful ways to workout at home in 15 mins or less. Being a mom, time is of value and I have to squeeze it in for my sanity. I created these workouts so that I can burst it in without interruptions. I will be passing my quick effective workouts on to you with tutorials on how to move correctly so the impact is greater.

When it comes to motherhood, we are the rock of the family and we need to take control and be the strength of the family. I am not saying our spouses are not of value, because they are your support system. But we need to maintain a healthy emotional, physical, and financial state. If we are not confident in our actions, we will not have control in the home. I write about how to keep it together especially when you want to give up.

Stephanie
